No More Translations
I was at an event the other day. It was one of those events where you set up a table for your business and hope that someone notices you, amongst all the other smiling people standing at tables.
A gentleman came up to my table and read our sign, which says “A Space for Healing and Transformation.” His comment to that was, “Wow, transformation really?” I replied, “Yeah, transformation.” To which he stated that transformation was not just changing a viewpoint, which can be a very positive thing but actually becoming something different.
As he walked away, I thought about what he had said. I thought about my life and what I do in my practice. I had chosen that word, Transformation, very purposefully, and I still agreed with it.
Let’s take the idea of suffering. We all have pain at some point in our life. We all suffer from time to time and we spend so much of our time and energy trying to “fix” or deny situations in our life that that are painful. Looking at those situations and say something like, “Look at all you have to be grateful for.” or “Think of all the people that have it worse.” is just another translation. All that does is put what you are going through into a different language, and unfortunately most of us use the language of guilt to try and make ourselves change.
I wish to be done translating in my life! I am done saying to my self in different ways this is Love and this is Fear, you know better. I have translated it in so many different ways, that if I haven’t gotten it by now, will I ever get it?
So what do I desire? I desire true transformation. I desire each step I take to be a becoming more than what I am now, not just a different version of myself in a new t-shirt. I desire for this body, this mind and this spirit to become able to experience and share more Love and Light than it ever has before. And I desire that for you also.
